About Safer Ottawa

Safer Ottawa is a non-profit organisation that promotes Drug Treatment, Education and Prevention. We believe that every addict should have immediate access to effective treatment and services to help them break free from the nightmare of addiction and help them become healthy and happy members of society.

Founded in 2007 to deal with the dangerous issue of discarded drug equipment on the streets of Ottawa, we are now pushing for solutions to deal with the ever growing and dangerous issues of addiction, not only for the health and well being of the addicts, but for all of us living with dangers and problems associated with drug use. Areas such as Lowertown, where we are located, have a rampant drug problem and with it comes drug dealers, crime, violence, prostitution and many other negative and dangerous activities. We believe the only way to properly deal with all of these aspects is to deal with the root cause, addiction and the issues that led to it.

We believe that Harm Reduction should be Harm Reduction for everyone and should not help one area of the population while putting other areas at risk.
